Two Weeks of Foundation Learning Completed...These Fellows have the energy to make change!!

It has been one month in Tamale. The Young Managers Program at the AfriLEAD Institute is well underway. We are in Week 3 of Foundation Learning. Not only are the Fellows learning, technical and leadership skills they are also applying them in a Consulting Case Study. The team I am facilitating (Team Oasis is there chosen name) has a great case study. They are actually working with a small-medium enterprise (SME) who is starting a business selling guinea fowl. The team is applying their strengths they have and taking the foundation learning sessions such as interviewing skills, project management, financial management, and marketing and have completed analysis of the business, and provided a proposal with recommendations that will help this SME get his business growing….and providing that delicious guinea fowl that Tamale is known for (it is amazing, so good).

The fellows are working so hard! Working all night, I just am amazed by there energy, and dedication. But as one fellow said, “…I’ve learned more in two weeks here then I have in a whole semester in university…” I know this program, though a pilot is working.
